I have this alful font that takes over all Arial on my system, this happened after I installed my fonts into my font book user.
I turned off and even removed my user fonts and restarted alot but no go. the only way i can see to remove my self of this font is to make a new user but that will take forever to get all of my files over there and plus I will still have no clue what font is evil, and I have a trillion of them. please help

Maybe try FontDoctor? VersionTracker tells me it would be appropriate.

You're suggesting that it's a virus?

Did you try using Font Book? Select (highlight) all fonts. Then click on Validate Fonts in the File menu.

I've had this happen a couple of times.
Everything that's supposed to be Arial goes crazy and displays as some awful font like Skaterdudes or Hobo or something.
My fix makes no sense, but has worked 4 me and is therefore maybe worth a try.
Try:
Locate an older (and therefore intact) version of Arial - either in the system/library/ instead of your user/library, or even on a different machine.
Then open your user/library/fonts/ folder.
In there, move Arial to the desktop (attempting to delete it will fail because it's in use).
Move your "older/intact" Arial into user/library/fonts/ replacing the one you just moved.
Restart apps (I can't remember if a logout is necessary or not) and see if things are fixed.
If fixed, delete the version of Arial you previously moved to the desktop.

Try using Font Finagler to delete font caches/databases.

FWIW, you can still use it to check your fonts in demo mode, it only costs to have it correct things for you and to be able to manage your fonts with it.
In 10.4 the updated Fontbook can now check for corruption (as stated by kcmac above)
