I just installed Tiger and it lags out of control, I mean I cant even handle it. Everytime I try to type something in a field like search, it would lag. Im only using Safari, AIM, and dashboard too. 3 apps. Also, when I use dashboard, it lags. Although, I still only have 256 of ram, pather never had a problem with this much lag. Any way to fix this problem and smooth out Tiger?

256MB is now the minimum; things will be much smoother with more RAM. Other than that, make sure Spotlight has finished indexing. And you should do either an Archive and Install or a clean install.

Install more RAM. 256MB is ridiculously low these days. I wouldn't even consider having a OS X computer running below 1 GB RAM, but then again I'm picky about my performance. The best thing I did to my PB was upgrade the RAM from 512 MB to 1GB. That took about a month.

I've got 512 MB on my 1 Ghz Titanium, and I have found that it is not really enough for Tiger. I bought more RAM, and until that arrived I stopped using dashboard, which really helped - a lot. Unfortunately the RAM I bought was bad, so now I am waiting for a replacement stick to arrive and I am back to not using Dashboard

YMMV but 768 MB should be the optimal amount of RAM for the basics in Tiger.

Oh Yes - You can never have enough RAM. I upgraded my ageing 667 PowerBook G4 from 768MB to 1GB RAM (The Max on that machine) just prior to installing Tiger and the difference is quite impressive. Even 10.3 was improved vastly. As a result I get longer battery times, since the HD is not constantly being used for Virtual Memory. With RAM prices as low as they are at the moment I'd recommend increasing to 1GB or more if you can.
