The last time I updated (to 3.9) my network/router stopped working, and could not use the router no matter what I tried.

NOW, again, as I updated to 4.1 the same exact thing happened, but this time with a different router!

What gives with this? Anyone else have this problem??

The first router was a linksys, and when I discovered that they would not support OS X, I went out and bought a Netgear... now the netgear won't work???

In general, routers are OS agnostic. Some may have OS requirements to configure them, but once they're up and running, they'll work with any OS.

I think your problems lie elsewhere. Do you know how to properly configure you IP address, subnet mask and gateway?

Nope, it's always been a mystery to me. I had a friend reconfigure it for me the last time... but then, I had a new router. I guess I'll have my friend redo it again.
