I know this is probably a stupid question, but I hope someone here can answer it. I heard about an emulation software on Macs that allows you to use windows software, and I want to play the Sims 2 on my soon-to-be imac. Is that at all possible? Or do I need to buy the Mac version?

Technically you could probably run the Windows version of the Sims using Virtual PC but it would be an exercise in self-torture.

Best to get the Mac OS X version.

So the performance would be bad even on the 2 GHz, 1GB imac?

Can't say for certain but it wouldn't surprise me.

There is no hardware acceleration of graphics in Virtual PC.

Bad? Bad doesn't even begin to describe it. I remember once playing UT2k3 on a Pentium 133 with a Rage XL, and it was awful. Virtual PC would be slower than that. Plus, it probably wouldn't work anyway since there is ZERO 3D acceleration in VPC. None at all. Most games wouldn't even launch. About the only games you would be able to play would be solitaire or minesweeper.

"That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" *wheeze*

Microsoft are "meant to be" adding Hardware accelaration to VPC some time soon.
