I want to erase my PowerBook hard drive and reinstall Tiger. Could I make a bootable backup of my hard drive to a firewire drive and then use the Migration Assistant to get all my stuff back? It says it can do it from a volume, but does that mean from an internal drive only?

 iMac Core 2 Duo 17" 2ghz 3gb/250gb ||  iBook G4 12" 1.33ghz 1gb/40gb
