This is a very annoying problem. I have two users setup on my computer. My user is a user with administrative priviledges, the other user does not have that.
I am using a special display profile (in System Preferences -> Display -> Color -> Display profiles) for my user environment.
When the second user logs in to her user environment, the display profile goes back to a default setting. When she logs out of the computer and I log back in, the display profile stays and cannot be changed anymore. If I open up the System Preferences - Display and try to set any display profiles, the computer beeps and nothing happens. I can select any of the profiles from the list, and nothing happens. The only I can get my display profile settings back is by restarting the computer. The default profile is very washed out, and does not work for me, restarting the computer all the time is getting annoying...
Is snyone seeing the same thing?

I'm getting this too. Exactly the same scenario. When I fast user switch to my admin account from a standard user account, I get lumped with the default colour profile and can't change it without restarting the computer. I have no suggestion as to a fix, so if anyone else does, I'd also appreciate it.

When you made the profile you should have had the option to make it available to all users. Do that and then have the other user use the same profile.

Thinine is technically right, however you are hitting your head against a bona-fide bug.
The clunky workaround can be found at http://macintouch.com/tiger21.html
Hopefully this will be one of the many bugs rumored to be fixed in 10.4.3

I found one similar, although not quite as troublesome. I use Dvorak keyboard layout, but keep the root user set to "qwerty" so when someone else uses my machine they won't blow an o-ring trying to figure out what is going on.... This works fine till fast-user-switching comes into play. Then root switches to Dvorak, as does the login screen. There are times when I've tried to log in as root to change it back and met the SBBOD.
