Hi and pardon if this has been covered - a quick search turned up nothing that related exactly...

I'm having trouble connecting to my powerbook, via an Airport connection - which may or may not be relevant. Both machines are running 10.4.

My machine sees the Powerbook under the "Network" icon, but when I try to connect - enter password etc - the machine just hangs for a while then shows me a dialogue telling me that the 'alias' for the Powerbook cannot be found. It asks me if I want to "delete alias' "fix alias' etc.

Connecting through the 'connect to server' menu gives this: "The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again." It exists.

I have a g4 running a version of 10.3 that connects just fine.

Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

ah, never mind. it seems one of us turned on the Firewall option in the Sharing prefs.

Note to Apple - helpful error messages in this regard are... helpful.
