So I'm dragging back and forth on the timeline trying to cut selection and edit my video.

In the Quicktime Pro 7 manual it says to put the playhead where you want and press i and o to assign the in and out markers.

There was a little picture of what it's supposed to look like when you select a piece of video.

When I pressed i and o it DID assign in and out markers, but it didn't look like the picture. The selected video wasn't darkened, and there were no little brackets on either end of it.

So, I can't delete sections of video. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Can anyone help?

It works as expected for me. Are you on Tiger or Panther?

I'm on TIger.

Oh, also, I opened a random text file (I was experimenting with placing text) and got a whole plethora of options under the "Edit" menu. When I tried looking at them with the movie I was trying to edit, they were grayed out

Are there some file formats in quicktime that don't support editing?

MPEG-1 and -2. Also certain movies that have the copy protection bit on (like anything opened with flip4mac non-pro or whatever they call it)
