I just ordered a 20" iMac G5 to replace my aging 12" PB (yay!). There are some things that I definitely want to transfer over to the new iMac-- iTunes library, iPhoto library, Adium prefs/logs, fonts, etc. There's also some other stuff that I don't really want to transfer; various little programs and things that I've accrued and never really looked at since.

So, that brings me to my question: Does the Migration Assistant let you pick individual programs to transfer over, or is it an all-or-nothing deal? It's not the biggest problem if i have to do it manually, (the home folder and iTunes and such should transfer over with relative ease) but what about iPhoto? If i transfer over my Pictures folder from an older version of iLife, will iPhoto 05 convert it? Is there a downside to doing that versus the migration assistant?

Thanks,
Max.

You can select certain folders not to import.

Alright, I guess i'll play around with it and see if I can get it to only import the ones that'd be harder to do manually (iPhoto, Safari)

iPhoto is very easy to do manually. Just copy your iPhoto Library folder.

So iPhoto 05 has no problem upgrading the library from previous versions automatically? good to know.
