One thing that I'm not clear on. If you do clone, your files are not put in their own folders I don't think. Your "clone", is just dispersed all over the HD you clone to, if I'm correct.

So if you use an external HD that already has lots of folders on it, will Tiger try to pull those folders onto the new blank HD, or is it smart enough to know to just pull over what was cloned from the Mac HD, i.e. apps, users etc.

If it's not smart enough, then perhaps then it's advisable to clone only to a blank external HD.

That's why I partition my external FW drive to 3 Partitions. One for 1st clone. 2nd for next week's clone and third for everything else. Third week clone to 1st, 4th week to 2nd, etc.....


This way if anything fails during cloning, I am at most a week behind!
