Forgive this post if it is in the wrong place.

I just upgraded my beige G3 266 desktop to OS 10.3.9, did XPostFacto, partitioned the HD the way it is supposed to be and all that. OS X came up just fine and all was very cool...until I decided to change the monitor resolution. There were four choices shown and I thought that meant those were the only supported resolutions, so I picked 1024 X whatever and the screen went blank.

Ok, I knew to try to restart in safe mode from a completely shut down computer - with my finger on the shift button for a long time and still no screen. Somehow safe mode is not working...if it did I would be able to simply select a different monitor resolution and move on. No luck.

I have tried taking the preferences from the OS X library, and placing it in a folder on the OS 9 desktop then restarting in OS X (I have OS 9 on the other partition which runs fine and I was able to open the OS X section to see its inner stuff). That brought me back to a weird OS X screen that gave me the choice to shut down, restart or (I forgot). It seems like a closed loop that only comes back to the same window.

Bottom line, how do I get the OS X screen back if safe mode is not working?

With thanks to all...an amazing mac resource.

MH
