Anybody know why the process called configd would be taking up to 80% of my processor cycles. Activity monitor shows 0% idle at times. I re-installed 10.4.1 and haven't had it since, but it sure was freakin me out. Anybody know about this or seen it before?

It's a system process, DVGuy. It shouldn't be taking up that much processor time, but as long things have returned to normal there's little reason to be concerned.

Code:
spiffy:~ finlay$ man configd NAME configd -- System Configuration Daemon ... DESCRIPTION The configd daemon is responsible for many configuration aspects of the local system. configd maintains data reflecting the desired and current state of the system, provides notifications to applications when this data changes, and hosts a number of configuration agents in the form of loadable bundles.
Of course, it shouldn't be taking 80% processor time. If you have the developer tools installed, take a sample and attach it to a bug report.

The re-install of 10.4.1 and deletion of my "SystemConfiguration" files has restored proper function. Thanks.
