What would I need to do to delete everything Ruby-related in Tiger to start fresh. The readline stuff is broken by default and I've been fighting with it for a while trying to get it fixed, so right now I'd just prefer to remove everything and start from stratch.

To delete everything Ruby-related? Delete everything Ruby-related. I believe that would be /usr/bin/ruby, /usr/bin/irb, /usr/lib/libruby.* and /usr/lib/ruby.

Though personally, I just left it all and installed my own copy in /usr/local, which seems to be the more standard location anyway.

How did you install Ruby? This is important, because depending on how you installed it, cleaning up may be easier or harder.

Yes, but if he's been "fighting" things then he probably installed his own copy. The question is how he did it; there are several possibilities.
