When I drag a URL to my desktop from Safari, sometimes it lands right where I dragged and released it, and other times in lands in the "logical" location, almost as if snapping to grid. Anyone know the reason for this inconsistent behavior? I have my desktop set so that it does NOT snap to grid and so that it is NOT arranged by anything. Thanks. (running 10.4.1)

Do you have other items on the desktop? If so, it could be bouncing off the "invisible perimeter" of a file.

Also, why are you not just hitting Apple S? You can save the web page for later viewing, even when not online. And you can specify the folder so you needn't clutter up the desktop.

I do have other items on the desktop (seven of them, all on the right-hand side...one of these items is the folder to which I drag these URLs), but this behavior occurs even when I haven't moved any of the items for a while.

Besides, the location where I usually drag the URL to is initially nowhere near any of the other items. When I say that it sometimes seems to snap to grid, I mean that the URL actually moves closer to the other items, not further away...like it is falling in line with the others instead staying in the random place I initially dropped it in no-man's land.

Good point...it does save time...but unfortunately, the drag-and-drop method takes up 4KB per URL where as the Cmd-S method takes up 240KB per URL. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

So...anyone else notice this? Is it a bug? I don't remember this happening in Panther.
