Is there a way to set a default position and view for all Open/Save boxes? I want every box to open to a certain number of columns and a certain position on the screen. There's obviously a default set already in the OS (2 column kind of off center). I remember reading in the past about Finder window positioning and something about logging in as Root to set those. Is there anything comparable for the Open/Save boxes?

Thanks.

Not that I know of... I have to set all of mine individually. Some can be really annoying too because in some Apps like Illustrator I can't resize my sidebar cause it goes back to default EVERY TIME no matter what I set it to. I've grown accustom to trying not to care.

Yeah I've tried sizing the sidebar too and just gave up. It always goes back. So really what's the point in offering the choice any way? Hide the side bar for one use only?

I think whether or not resizing the sidebar sticks relates to cocoa vs. carbon apps - hence it doesn't stick in Finder or MS Office apps, but it does in Mail, TextEdit, etc.

A curious distinction and a pain when it doesn't, but also viewing in list view you see the other difference - the date format ... full month names in carbon, abbreviations in cocoa.

You know I've never noticed that. Good observation. Maybe because I spend most of my time in Photoshop and other carbon apps I never tried the adjusting sidebar with a cocoa app. But sure enough I tried it in Path Finder and it stuck.
