New iMac G5 2GB - I reinstalled system because question mark folder showed up the other day. Before, during, and after reinstalling OS X, I occasionally heard random short quiet beeps from back of computer, somewhere inside. They aren't consistent sets of 1, 2, or 3 beeps and aren't coming from the speakers. Are these normal sounds that should be expected?

Sometimes the optical drive make beeping-resemblant sounds.

Y no entienden nada... ¡y cómo se divierten!...

Backup your data onto another HD. If you have an older backup, don't write over it with this one. If there's any corruption on your disk, you'll want both backups available.

If you can, run DiskWarrior on your drive. Have it monitor S.M.A.R.T. status daily. You might also want to run Hardware Test and Disk Utility, but I've found both of these programs lacking when identifying potential drive failures.

Many people also have power supplies that make noises, including "beeps"

I hear the same sort of sounds from my dual-G5 on occasion, so this could be normal. I don't know if it's the graphics card or some other kind of fan that's being used.

Yeah guys, but he clearly mentions that he got the question mark folder on startup. That's often not a good sign.

This is where the backup recommendation came from. Dying hard drives can make beeping noises too. I would recommend setting the SMART check to hourly instead of daily.
