Just recieved OS X Tiger in the mail today. Before I jump in and install this thing I am interested to know if there are any outstanding issues left open that I should be aware of.
Currently I am running 10.3.9 on a PowerBook 15" (Rev. C, last one before the scrolly trackpads). I intend to back up my relevant documents/files via my network onto my PC Hard disk and then do a clean wipe and reinstall. I think there are still a few vestigial things on my HD since it is an Apple installation (Installed at the factory when I bought my PB). I figure this is the most effective (and best timing) method of thouroughly cleaning things up.
I'm asking about things like crashes/CPU usage/freezes, etc. I have been watching the PB forum and have noticed that people are getting CPU usage problems with a delinquent process hogging all CPU time. Something related to Spotlight's indexing I think.
Also how about application compatibility? Does anyone know if the following work on Tiger no probs?
Office 2004*
EndNote 8*
Fugu
GraphicConverter*
Synk*
VLC*
Warcraft III TFT
Baldur's Gate II
Rise of Nations
Macaroni*
iScroll2*
ATi Displays
*most important
Lastly- there are a couple of applications that came pre-installed on my PB from Apple that I would like to keep. GraphicConverter is the biggest one. Is there a way that I can save this application before wiping my drive, or is there some way of selectively installing specific applications off of my original PB restore DVDs?
Thanks for any tips you can offer, this is my first major OS upgrade on the Mac so I suppose that I have been downgraded to n00b status on this
