After doing a clean install of 10.4 (originally 10.3.7 working fine) on a Dual 2Ghz/G5 w/1GB mem and Radeon 9600XT card and absolutly no other software, I started getting massive amounts of screen artifacts while moving windows around. See (for screenshots):

I have tried working with the Quartz2dExtreme settings as in other postings, but it seems to have very little effect (other than causing more problems when the setting is on). Any help would be appriciated.

Looks like a problem with your video card. Are you still under warranty? And just as a general check, make sure your video card is securely inserted. You may also want to get a utility that can check the various temperature sensors in your G5 and see if it's running a bit hot. The 9600XT doesn't have an onboard fan (AFAIK), so those artifacts may be the result of over heating.

Temps look fine... has the problem frm a cool ambient temperature start. Seated properly. Still bothersome that it worked perfectly in 10.3.7 though. HW diags from 10.3 DVD passed.

To what hardware diagnostics from the 10.3 DVD are you referring? Are you talking about the hardware test CD? If I were in your situation, I would downgrade to 10.3 to see if the behavior continues.

Came from 10.3.7. It worked fine. Yes, it was the hardware test CD.
