Please bear with a noob and a (very) minor issue, I just wanted to see if this was common.
I Happened to notice a small line running horizontally across my menu bar like so:
Checked some desktop screenshots that are around and some people have them, and some don't. It's not the monitor, because it shows in the screenshot, and it appears on both my PB and external monitor.
Display settings would be my best guess? ... again, it's a very minor problem but ever since I noticed it I can't help staring.
Oh and I'm on a Rev D 12" PB (running Tiger, clean install) for what that's worth.

Now that you mention it, there is indeed such a line, and it is a bit annoying. I wouldn't have noticed it if you had not pointed it out.* Interestingly, yours is darker and thus more pronounced than mine. Apple got rid of pinstripes for this?
*Upgraded to Tiger only today

um....... I believe the line you are seeing is the edge of the specular on the menu bar.... light reflecting off of the glass-like surface. The shots you saw that didnt have it are the shots from Panter or Jaguar, those had a pinstripe look, while Tiger introduces the glass look for the menus, similar to the glass look of buttons...
Although that should be pretty obvious even to a noob, so I'm guessing the contrast on your monitor may be effed up... try going through the calibration thingy. The reason I say that is because you should not see a line. You should see whitness, then a gradient that goes from gray to white, very subtle. Similar to that of a button that doesnt have focus (so its not blue) only much lighter, and minus the border.
If you really cant stand it, there are a number of ways you can theme/skin OSX...check out the GUI customization forum here on MacNN...

Yep, that is just part of the glossy menu bar look that Apple introduced with 10.4 Tiger.
If you would like the old Pinstripes back, check out http://maxthemes.com for the Aqua Extreme package installer.

I wasn't too keen on the new glass look, so I ended up copying Panther's old menubar into Tiger's.
