First here's my computer specs:


power mac G5
dual 1.6 ghz processors
1 GB DDRAM
OSX.4.2


factor I *think* could be affecting it:

~ I have Shapeshifter (10.4 version)


that being said here's the issue. This happens in both Illustrator CS and CS2, it started happening ever since I installed 10.4. I also have reinstalled 10.4 twice, the second time I even whiped my HD. I'll be in Illustrator and I will try and carefully click on a point or path etc. but sometimes (more often than none) i'll click, then be taken to the desktop even though I have Illustrator taking up the entire screen. Once I do have a point/path etc. selected and try to move it or transform it, I will often make a picture clipping to the desktop (again when I don't even select the desktop, Illustrator is still filling the entire screen). I tried all view modes of Illustrator, got all updates and nothing fixes this. It's very very frustrating to try and get any work done with this issue. I can't think of anything else to my knowledge to fix it, I even reinstalled Illustrator many times and zapped my PRAM. If anyone can help with fixing this it will be greatly appreciated!

ShapeShifter 2.1 is causing this. It's fixed for an upcoming 2.1.1 release. Sorry for the inconvenience!

You can work-around it until 2.1.1 is released by adding Illustrator to ShapeShifter's exclude list.

ahhhhhh, see I had a hunch Shapeshifter was the cuplrit any idea when the new Shapeshifter patch is coming out?

It's in beta two right now, and looking solid. I'd guess early next week.
