I just saved a web page as pdf, (print save as pdf)

it was 250 kb.

Then I did it again and chose compress pdf. It was same size.

Did I miss something? thanks.

Consider yourself lucky...in my quick test, the "Compressed PDF" was actually 3k larger than the "Save as PDF" file.

Yes, mine was 3k larger too, but I wanted to round it off. At least there is some consistency to the feature. It increases the size 3 k.

I've only tested Compress PDF when the source are huge TIFF images and the resulting file sizes were always smaller than their Print To PDF counterparts.

You can configure a ColorSync filter which automatically converts .tiff images to – say – .jpgs in a quality you chose. Launch the ColorSync Utility and Create a New Filter. Select Image Compression from the options and adjust your settings. Next time you create a .pdf in the Print dialog, choose this particular ColorSync filter.

If you have uncompressed images in your original .pdf, it should shrink the size of the .pdf considerably.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
