Odd.
Sometimes Tiger will start up bonjour, and sometimes it won't.
Airport Express always recognizes the printer, so that's not it.
If Tiger doesn't start up bonjour, then I can't print. And I have to restart (or keep doing so) until it DOES start up bonjour (that's when I can print).
Removing and Adding the printer again doesn't work, because hte bonjour service was never turned on in the first place.
Any one else having this problem?

I can't say I have ever had this happen to me. Where are you looking to verify that it hasn't started up?

the printer doesn't show up when trying to add a printer. also, the "bonjour" on the drop-down list doesn't show up either. Also, bonjour via iChat doesn't show up either.

Have you checked to see whether mDNSResponder is running? That's bonjour.
You're reporting side effects... it may be a problem with mDNSResponder or some other network config issue, and not that it's not running at all.

I will check for mDNSResponder the next time a restart hinders Bonjour from being used.
If so, how would I run mDNSResponder [assuming it wasn't running]?

That's really strange that it's not running... have you tried upgrading to 10.4.2? I might try that first, in case some startup items in /System/Library/StartupItems are whacked.
Note, you could also try repairing permissions. This is one of the few cases when it might ACTUALLY help, as the system will know the appropriate permissions for everything in /System/Library.

already tried repair permissions ......
it's odd, sometimes it starts up, and sometimes it doesn't
in today's post @ macosxhints
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...34355#comments
it shows how to disable it!
Is there a "reverse" way on how to enable it via the terminal?
