I am considering upgrading from OS X 10.3.9 to Tiger, and would like to pose these questions:
1- Will I still be able to use my older applications, many that I've been running on System 7x8x9x? So far, I've been very pleased with the ability to run many of my older, some very old, applications on my G4 iBook. We still use our old PowerMac 7300/500 a lot, and I want to be able to work between the PM7300 and my G4 iBook.
2- What are some of the compatibility issues when upgrading to Tiger?

1. Classic mode is the same in Tiger as it is in Panther.

2. There have been a few third party driver issues, and there is also that reported Adobe temp file incompatibility with Spotlight. A couple of other applications have issues with Spotlight. Carbon Copy Cloner still isn't compatible with Tiger, if that's a concern. If you're really interested in seeing a comprehensive incompatibility list, you may want to check this one out, but the significant number of reports may deter you from upgrading. I upgraded my G5 from 10.3.9 to 10.4 with an Archive and Install after holding out for a long time, and I am quite happy.
