Hi there, first post at MacNN, I’ve been lurking and reading for the last few years. Thanks for all the insight and entertainment.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change where the weather widgets gets it’s data? I’m in London UK and the info it gives for us here is consistently rubbish. Just compare the report from the widget to that at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=0008

Pretty different five day forecast. If I had believed Apple’s info I would be packing a brolly and mac right now, instead I’m boiling in my studio.

You sure it's picking up the London UK info? Make sure it's not London, Ontario, Canada or London whatever.

As of right now, only one day is off by 3 degrees when compared to the BBC. The others are either off by 1 or 0 degrees...not a big deal, imo. No two weather station is going to have data that matches across a 6 day forecast.

You're right, it is only a few degrees out. Maybe a bit picky it's more the cloud cover / rain. Tomorrow it's raining in Apple's London but only cloudy in the BBC's. A sartorial nightmare!

Yeah I just looked to see if I could do this. I'm in Leicester and the Widget reports it's actually 10 degrees cooler than it actually is. (Yeah I have the right Leicester selected because I checked their forecast on the tinterweb too).

I heard somewhere you can put in the co-ordinates of a weather station, is that true? I think what we in the UK really want is a BBC weather widget,

I filed a bug against the weather widget, it has been reporting incorrect data even compared to what AccuWeather's web site was (see here). It's Problem ID 4145493.

I don't know about the co-ordinates, but if you are having trouble getting the Weather widger to work with your city in the UK, then try using the name of the nearest weather station instead. Eg. Peterborough, UK isn't found, but Wittering, UK is (and this is the weather station for Peterborough).

You're not kidding! That really is rubbish. You can't blame Apple for Accu's poor reporting I guess but not even matching their data is really toss.

Bring on a BBC version.
