so, i bought a 15" Powerbook, 1.33, 256mb -- and i'm going to go ahead and instal tiger...

my questions are:

1. do i need to upgrade the memory first? i bought 1gb of memory for it, but was wondering if i have to install that first before the installation... if so, how do i do that? anyone have a good write up?

2. does installing tiger completely wipe the hard drive? if not, how do i do that?

3. one of the n00best of all... how do i see the total size of my hard drive, rather than available size?

i think that's it for now ... expect a lot more questions from me in the near future, its my first

1.)
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Pow...zUserGuide.pdf

Read chapter 4 "Adding memory to your computer". Do it before the Tiger update.

2.)
The installer has an option to erase the hard disk before installing. I think it's hidden behind an "Advanced" button or so somewhere at the beginning of the installation process. Since you bought it used I would suggest you choose this option when installing Tiger.

3.)

Launch Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.

1. Not mandatory, but upgrade memory first. See the PowerBook manual :

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Pow...zUserGuide.pdf

2. It's up to you. You can do Erase&Install, Archive&Install or Upgrade. Choose the option in the installer. The default is Upgrade.

3. Select the harddisk icon (either on the desktop or the sidebar in the Finder, and press Command(Apple) and the I to show Information of th disk. (you can select Get info in the file menu or the action menu as well
