OK, you guys are my last hope.
Ever since upgrading to OS X 10.4, I have had trouble accessing my Samba shares (home directory & SharePoints shares) from Windows XP Home.
Configuration:
Power Mac G4 (OS X 10.4)
Linksys WRT54GX Wireless router
HP990Cse Printer connected to Mac via USB
Dell Inspiron 8600 (Windows XP Home Edition)
I am able to share and print to the HP990 over the wireless network from my WinXP notebook. And, I can access my shared directories on the XP machine FROM my Mac with no problems. So far so good. Now, prior to upgrading to Tiger, I could access all my OS X SMB shares from the XP machine, but now it's very flakey. I can connect and login from XP to the OS X shared directory, but then one of two things happens. First, it will display a list of files, then a quick refresh happens and I'm left staring at an empty directory (as if the connection just died). Second - and this happens most frequently - I login, the files are all there, but I have no read or write access to the directory and the files within. For example, I'm unable to play an mp3 or video. I can't copy a file from OS X back to WinXP or vice versa. All the permissions for the files and directories are good so that can't be the problem.
Please offer your suggestions or troubleshooting ideas. I'll respond back if it's something I've already tried (and I've tried just about EVERYTHING).
Thanks!
P.S. This exact same configuration worked perfectly until I upgraded to Tiger (though that could always be a coincidence).
