first of all, i'm trying to find icons for ghostbusters so if anyone knows where i can find decent quality ones, let me know.

but suppose i find an image i like, how do i turn it into and icon?

and also, how do i stick this image on top of a BLUE folder icon ?

You can use Photoshop to save the portion of the picture as a .png with transparency (with drop shadow if desired) then convert it to an icon with pic2icon. You can use pixadex to export a .png version of a folder icon then use Photoshop to layer a picture on top. Save that as .png and convert that with pic2icon.

The people in GUI Customization may have some better answers.
