Hello all, I am still a neewb to Mac's, and still have another question. Is there a way to make the background on the taskbar "the thing" on the bottom of the screen" invisable, just want to see the icons. I am running 10.2.8 as an operating system.

`The thing' is called Dock.

System Preferences > Dock > Hide Dock.

Or easier: Right click in the separator line of the Dock, and then hide.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
