How to transfer files from Mini to external hard drive?

I connected external hard drive to mini thru USB port and it sees it. But when I try click and drag over it won't let me, saying I can't modified the files.

Help!!!!!

Can you double click the drive and see the contents ?

Sounds like a permissions problem. Try Disk Utility and Fix Permissions on that drive.

If the drive it totally blank, there's no harm in re-formatting it, again using disk utility.
