I have a 10.3 Mac with 2 user accounts that I often switch between exclusively with fast user switching. Every time it asks for a password which is getting annoying. How do I completely remove passwords from both accounts so it doesnt ever ask for one? At the moment if I delete the password it says it is too short.

You can't. Why are you so rapidly switching between accounts that this would be a bottleneck?

Its my mothers computer but Im on and off it a lot for scanning and printing. Its just pointless to endlessly have to enter the password every time I switch accounts - theres nobody else around thats going to mess around with the computer.
Edit: Fixed! Both accounts are admin so I just removed the 2 passwords while logged into the other account.

Do not remove the passwords. They are there for a very good reason. They cannot be removed without seriously compromising your machine's security, and they must be asked for at every single point that they are. This is a cold, hard fact of computing, beyond the possibility of debate.

It is not pointless. You are not the only users of your machine, and even if you were, the machine has no way of knowing that nobody else is around. Put the passwords back. This is for your own good, and the very fact that you would remove them proves that you are not qualified to know otherwise.

Not sure about Panther but in Tiger, you can change the password and leave it blank. Then you won't get a prompt on FUS (btw, that's documented by Apple). You could also try looking in Preferences. Either in Security or Accounts, there should be an option not to ask for a password as well, which would be even better.
Finally, are you using winswitch? Great app, free and enhanced the FUS experience. Has some extra things you can also customize.

Ive never had an issue with the [lack of] security of OS 9, which this Mac used to run. Im not really very paranoid when it comes to computer security, which is also why I dont bother with antivirus software even on my PC. Either Ill learn the hard way or nothing will happen.
