I am looking to keep my screen from dimming so quickly. This is not turning the screen off, nor is it the screensaver. It is the dimming before. Does anyone know where this settingn is located?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you on Tiger or Panther?

Either way, it's in the Energy Saver preferences pane.

Ahh, I found it. It doesn't appear to be something you can change as far as timing goes, but it is a checkbox that says "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep."

Thanks. I don't know why I couldn't find that one.

But in Tiger, it's more noticible, on laptops at least. Saves battery life, I guess.

on my pb (1.33g 12"), the screen dims after a few minutes, even tho i have "dim screen before sleep" unchecked. annoying.

happens only in tiger for me (was fine in 10.3).

it's been suggested to reset the pram (will try this next time i restart...when & if)

Does the 12" PB automatically change screen brightness according to ambient light?

Don't think the 12 does since the keyboard isn't backlit.

You can turn off the ambient sensor on 15s an 17s, or adjust it.

And yes, Tiger does have the screen dimming to conserve power.

I have found that the problem is that some of those settings don't reliably save, especially the differences between the settings for battery and adaptor power. I've managed to stop my screen from dimming within a few minutes by turning off the screensaver and putting the time before sleep up over an hour but ideally this shouldn't be necessary. And it was never a problem before Tiger.
