Problem browsing network shares

hey all I am using Tiger 10.4.2 and now for some reason, anytime in the finder when I try and browse a network share, I get the beachball and then finder shows up as Not Respoding in Activity Monitor, Its when I hit Connect in find, and it just does nothing HELP!@

What operating system is the computer you're trying to browse running?
