menu bar dissapears?

Periodically, my menu bar dissapears. However, it functions normally (and reappears when clicked). Any ideas as to what this might be?

The menubar is drawn by the current application. There's a long-standing bug where you can wind up "between" applications, in which case no menubar is shown. Clicking where it ought to be will bring up the desktop (Finder's) menubar. It very rarely happens in modern OS X versions, though. Are you using 10.2 or below?

10.3.9. Just noticed that it only occurs with itunes. should i reinstall the software or something?
