I bought a friend's powerbook a while back and have it all set up with my stuff, i was dumb and didn't do a complete reinstall when i got it. now i am tired of seeing his name pop up for different things like keychain. is there any way to do a complete switch over so it is fully mine?

Launch Keychain Access and rename the keychain. Rinse and repeat for all other annoying references.

Can't he just create a new user, copy his stuff across and delete the old one?

Erase and do a Clean Install. Why didn't you do this in the first place? Did he leave programs on it that you wouldn't have otherwise?...

it was actually a friend of mine who did this and he gave it to me to fix up. i think i just have about everything fixed but he was complaining about the keychain and a few other minor things.

He is no mac knower, just a mac user.

If he copies his keychain across, he'll have the problem.

Also, that won't take care of root/sudo passwords, including the login.keychain, AFAIK.

You can reset the root password with the install CD.

Someone setup my Mac for me and it had an awkward short name so I just made a new admin and deleted the old one. I did it early on so I didn't have settings to mess with.
