If I have a file on my drive called "superduper.pdf" and I seach for just "duper" using spotlight, the file doesn't show up. I'm sure the 10.3 find would locate it. What's going on? How do I get spotlight to find partial words? Please tell me there is a way to do this. I often only remember part of a filename that I need to find.

hmmm... doesn't look like you can use wildcards. i've tried a few of the common ones and spotlight treats them all as part of the search term.

you can always use the apple+F search function and use "name contains duper" it's probably just as quick!

Doesn't apple+F just bring up Spotlight, or am I missing something?

it brings up a search window in the finder where you can various criteria for the search [like the old classic finder 'apple+F' used to do]

Yes, that worked. The format looks different than 10.3 which confused me. Thanks for pointing this out. I can rest easy now!

10.3, I believe, automatically looked for partial words, so it's an extra step. No big deal though.
