This is an ongoing problem, and as of now, I am becoming more annoyed with it. I'm trying to install a driver for a TASCAM US-122, which is a .mpkg file, and it won't let me open it. I'm getting a prompt that tells me the file "may be damaged or incomplete". It came straight off the installer disk, how could it be incomplete? This has happened before with .mpkg files that I've downloaded, so I had assumed that they weren't reliable. This file, I would assume, would be more reliable, so I guess it's a problem with my mac.

Any suggestions? Should I just go buy Tiger, and everything will sort itself out?

Try using the installer command from the Terminal.
The -pkginfo flag will analyze your metapackage and list the subpackages.

If this doesn't work, then you won't be able to use your metapackage at all.
