PSD files in Tiger are causing trouble

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Applications or OS forums, but figured since it was a problem that appeared with the new OS I should post it here.

The Finder hangs when browsing PSD files (spinning ball for 10+ seconds), it also occasionally crashes and sometimes the whole system seizes up and I need to force shut down.

The other problem is I can no longer open PSD files larger than 1 gig in size (I get a disk error message after about 5 minutes), which leaves a lot of my digital artwork inaccessible.

Any advice would be awesome! thanks!

There's also the possiblity of it being a hardware prob with your disk.

Can you browse/open big files from other disks?
