I support a bunch of macs, and this seems to be a fairly common problem, and I don't know what causes it.
It's either happens one of three ways:
- User hits Apple+K to connect to server, enters address, username, and password for AFP server, chooses volumes to mount, and then hits 'ok' and finder beachballs and then hangs. Needs to be relaunched.
- User tries to open a local alias of a folder that is on the server. Finder goes to connect; beachball and hangs.
- User has shortcut to folder on server in the sidebar of finder window. User logs in and finder beachballs and needs to be relaunched. After finder relaunches, beachballs and needs to be relaunched again. Only way to stop is to unplug network cable.
Seems like there are problems connecting to AFP servers in 10.3, but I can't quite figure out why. Archive and install usually fixes this, but I think that's a little much.
Anyone know why this is happening and/or what I can do to fix it?
