It doesn't have Microsoft's IIS to do its webserving, but relies on Apache, the most common webserver on the internet with a close to 70 % market share.

AFAIK you cannot use asp; .net would technically work with mono. However, most web developers rely on Apache, MySQL and PHP do create websites.

For question 2, the answer is no. IIS is just a webserver AFAIK and hence can be substituted by any other webserver.

Why do you have to use asp, is it a requirement?

Aviv,

There is an open source product, called Mono, which is an implimentation of the ASP.NET framework.

You can load a DLL into apache that allows it to execute ASP.NET code (only C#). There is also a stand-alone web server as part of the project.

I, for one, am GLAD that Mac OS X does NOT have IIS in it...

IIS is one of the reasons so many worms are around on the internet these days...
