applications folder set to read only....

hi

I did get info for my applications folder -and for some reason the permissions are set to Read Only -and it is blanked out so that I can't set it to read and write

how can I change and why has it done this?

any ideas?

Have you tried repairing permissions?

Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Select your HD > Click repair permissions.
(The dark lord has risen again......Beware)

Are you logged in to an admin account? Regular users only have read permission.
