I never thought I would say this but I found a feature in Windows that I need that does not seem to appear on the Mac. Using Safari and other browser I try to highlight text off the web then "control click" for the contextual menu but no print option is available. Is it possible to select text and print on the Mac? Any help appreciated.

Mac OS doesn't have that exact function, but in many apps, including Safari, you can go to the services submenu (it's in the application's menu, e.g. Safari in Safari), and choose TextEdit -> New Window Containing Selection. Then you can print from TextEdit.

Thanks Tooki, I knew I could count on this forum. That was great help. Up until now I have copying the selected text, opening text edit then paste then print. You just eliminated several steps. Thanks again.

In Safari 2.0, you can highlight text and hit Apple (Command P) to print. Or you can scroll to File and select Print from there.

I tried those options but they print the whole page still.

It's basically up to the application to provide it by default. You can install this service to get a Print Selection command, though.

Wow, you guys are great here. Much appreciated. I downloaded that print selection software from versiontracker and that works flawlessly. Thanks again for everyone's help and especially Chuckit.
