i'm having problems getting the date and time (and the spotlight icon) to display in the top right hand corner of the menu bar. it's really weird, you go to system prefs, set it to show date and time, but after that it disappears. once in a while it will appear for a flash, and then it will go missing again.

has anyone experienced this before? thanks.

Your Mac is having an issue with the SystemUIServer. Try logging out and in or restarting and see if that helps.
