I have a Mac Mini connected to a DVI Display capable of 1024x768. We are using it at the 90° orientation, so it really is 768x1024 in practice. Upon startup the Mac always reverts to 800x600 (600x800) and doesn't change back when it comes up the desktop. As such, there's a tiny window in the middle of the screen in the correct orientation (effectively it's not scaling either). Since I'm also using this as a touchscreen, it messes the settings up there. Does anyone know what's causing this issue or how to fix it? Thanks!

is the monitor designed to be used at the 90 degree orientation?

under system preferences, displays. does it detect the display when you click the detect displays button?

is the touchscreen part of the monitor software or is it an add in??

Yes, it works just fine. The monitor doesn't really care, since it's getting 1024x768 for all it knows. It's a VESA mount monitor so it can be mounted either way.

The touchscreen part is built in (it's an Elo touchscreen), but we had to buy a $120 driver for OS X that'd be free for Win!! I guess we're being punished for trying to push the envelope of the Mac market into manufacturing support.

The issue seems to be OS X's desire to change the res upon startup, even though it is set correctly to the 90° rotation...it's just small.
