Is there any way to make OS X (10.4.2) only display one application's windows on the screen at a time?

For example, while using Word, I can see iTunes through all the empty spaces. This is extremely annoying as it clutters the screen and makes what I want to find hard to find.

What I'd like is that when I pick a window through Expose (one of the truly most awsome things ever invented), that all other windows disappear until I either choose them through Expose or through the Dock. The programs are still open, and still appear in Expose, but not on the screan unless they are active.

Thanks!

Command+Option+H hides background applications.

Yeah, but apparently it also hides them from Expose.

Is there a setting somewhere to do that automatically (provided it doesn't mess with Expose)?

Maybe something like FocusLayer would be good for you?

You know, one of these days I'm going to remember to check places like VersionTracker and MacUpdate before asking questions like this!

ETA: Great idea, but doesn't work very well. It creates it's own phantom application that hides in Expose, but doesn't block out the other windows. Blocks the wallpaper, though.

Lemme see if there is anything similar....
