I just upgraded to OS 10.4 from 9.2.2 and am still getting use to the new OS layout. The problem is that whenever I have Mac Help open and I’m searching a term or two, it just cycles continuasly without giving a result. It was working properly for about the first 3 days before the problem started. Would like some advice on this if any is known, Thanks.
A process known as distributed computing helped map the human genome.

Now it's being used to find cures for cancer, ALS, alzheimer's and other diseases.

You can help by running a piece of software in the background. It's easy, free, and fun!

You could try deleting the cache files for Help:

Navigate to the /Users/yoursusername/Library/Caches folder (in shorthand, as you will see it written this way more often than not, that is ~/Library/Caches - the tilde indicates that this is in your home folder).

Move the com.apple.helpui folder to your desktop and relaunch Mac Help. Does it work now? If so, delete the old cache folder.

That worked. Thanks!

It seems kind of odd that this happens. Does anyone know of a way to have Mac Help automatically delete old parts of its cache? I don’t see a “Preferences” menu choice anywhere in Mac Help, for which to adjust this attribute.

I've had all kinds of problems with OS X help in Tiger too. Sometimes help pages won't load. Sometimes they contain dead links. Sometimes search doesn't work. It's weird.
