My friend wants me to experiement by upgrading his G3 iMac (Blueberry) 350 Mhz CD Slot running on 9.1 now.. I couldn't upgrade to 10.3 because I have to upgrade from OS 9.1 to OS 9.2 first.

So, I went to apple support download page and downloaded OS 9.2.1 Update. After the download completed and then I get the error message that wont go away after clicking "OK" many times.I had to restart..

After the restarting, I double click on Mac OS 9.2.1 update.smi and it said "Unable to execute "Mac OS 9.2.1Update.smi" This file is invalid and should be replaced (-8819)"

I'm having a hard time to upgrade to 9.2? Help anyone??

THanks

Why do you believe you have to update OS 9 first? Other than Classic support, OS 9 is of no consequence to OS X.

I dont know.. because I inserted Panther 10.3 Installation CD into the iMac G3 and restarted by holding the "C" and nothing happened... that's why I assumed i have to get on 9.2 in order to install OS X 10.3?

MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE NEWEST FIRMWARE ASAP.

Not doing so can permanently RUIN the iMac within a short time of running OS X.
