Hello all--

Have a problem. I have a 100GB LACIE external firewire drive, formatted for MS-DOS. It stopped mounting on my powerbook the other day and I"ve not been able to get it to mount since. If I run DiskUtility, it checks the disk and then gives me this error:

Code:
Verify and Repair disk “LACIE” fsck_msdos(268) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=1069056) failed (error code=3) fsck_msdos(268) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=1069056) failed (error code=3) *** error: can't allocate region fsck_msdos(268) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug ** /dev/disk1s1 ** Phase 1 - Read FAT ** Phase 2 - Check Cluster Chains ** Phase 3 - Checking Directories `..' entry in /.Trashes/501/Weekly Backup - 2005.09.21-00.36.06.139 - Part 1.FullBackup/Contents/Backup.catalog has incorrect start cluster Correct? yes `..' entry in /.Trashes/501/Weekly Backup - 2005.09.21-00.36.06.139 - Part 1.FullBackup/Contents/Backup.catalog/BACKUP~1.CAT has incorrect start cluster Correct? yes No space for directory (Cannot allocate memory) Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit 1 non HFS volume checked 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
Any ideas? I really want to get the data off the disk and then reformat as a Mac formatted drive. But I can't GET to the data.

Thanks!

I have the same exact problem. I think it may have something to do with FCP and using the lacie drive as a scratch disk. Or updating System software with the external connected.
