When software installers run, they place a BOM (bill of materials) in the /Library/Receipts folder. But these have a .pkg suffix.

Unsure of what has type "receipts." Maybe you created it? It's in your documents folder.

Well I personally didn't create it. I just noticed it in my documents folder a couple nights ago after I had transferred my data back over to the iBook after formatting it.

I didn't have a .receipts file prior to formatting.

I searched online, and no luck finding out what a .receipts file is.
