Hi all,

I just bought Tiger and am about to install it on my Powerbook. As I have already backed everything up I would like to do a complete clean install and reformat my HD back to fatcory settings.

My question is this - Can I do a clean install and format this just be using the new Tiger disks, or will I need to wipe everything out first using my original Powerbook disks and then install Tiger?

I want to get it right this time......

Please help

Mush

Powerbook G4 17", 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, 5400rpm HD, 128Mb VRAM

Use the search feature, this topic has been covered a gazillion times

You can do everything using the new Tiger disks, although it isn't necessary in most cases to do a clean install.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Not true, Oreo - he'll still need the original Powerbook Install disks to replace iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, GraphicConverter, and whatever other extra software was bundled with the 'book.

But yeah, a complete wipe anc clean install should not be necessary.

Heck, the last time I did a complete format and reinstall on one of my machines (barring defective or replaced hardware) was in 1990!
