Hi everyone

Had a hard drive crash recently... did a reinstall (pulled back preferences using the upgrade utility from an old backup). Had no problems, until I tried to install the latest version of Salling Clicker...

... packages won't open for me. They just show up as a folder with .pkg on the end. If I double click them, they give the "no application" warning asking me to pick an app to open it with.

Help!!

Thanks

They should open with the program /Applications/Utilities/Installer. Assuming it's installed correctly and everything, the files' association must have been broken. You can just tell them to open with that and it should be back to normal.

thanks for the response!

that works - somewhat. If I open up the Installer, I can then select the package I'm after. However, if I associate the packages with the Installer, and I double click the packages, I get a "The Operation Could Not Be Computer - Unexpected Error Occurred (Error Code -10814)"

Which kind of sucks

Thanks for your help. I'm guessing I need a new Installer.app

Sounds like the LaunchServices cache could be corrupt. Try going into /Library/Caches and removing any files whose names start with com.apple.launchservices. Then reboot, and see if you can associate the packages with Installer.app without problems.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
